Dennis Ingram Named Wilmington High’s Interim Athletic Director

WILMINGTON, MA — On Tuesday evening, Wilmington School Superintendent Dr. Glenn Brand announced WHS Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach Dennis Ingram as the school’s interim athletic director for the 2022-2023 school year.

Ingram is currently a Physical Education/Health Teacher at the West Intermediate School. He has also served as the Director for the district’s Wildcat Summer Sports Clinics since 2009. Ingram has coached basketball for at the high school level for 20 years, including in Medford, Somerville and — most recently — Wilmington.

Ingram holds a Masters degree in Athletic Administration (M.Ed.) from Van Loan School at Endicott College and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Excelsior College. He is also a  Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) recognized by the National Interscholastic Athletic Association, and a Certified Interscholastic Coach recognized by the National Federation of State High School Association (NFHS).

Ingram is a 1999 graduate of Wilmington High School, where he was a standout 3-sport athlete, for which he was inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

Ingram takes over for Mia Muzio, who is stepping down this month to become the Athletic Director in Lynnfield.

Ingram was recommended by a search committee consisting of a WHS student, parent, 2 teaches/coaches, a WHS administrator, and a district administrator. He was one of three internal candidates to apply.

Brand explained he chose to fill the position with an interim candidate because it was too late to conduct a full search given the timing of Muzio’s decision to leave. Brand also wished to pursue internal candidates in order to provide continuity for students and coaches. He intends on reevaluating the position in the winter to “determine the best way to move forward in a permanent capacity.”
