Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:
WILMINGTON, MA — Ronald Edward Zwicker Sr., age 80, of Henderson, NV, formerly of Wilmington, MA, passed away April 19, 2022 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Ronald was born December 23,1941, to the late Rose and Ralph Zwicker. He grew up in Wilmington, graduating from Wilmington High School with the Class of 1959. Ron joined the Army National Guard at age 20 and was stationed in Lowell.
He met Victoria Sousa in 1963 and they wed in 1965; together they had two sons, Ron Jr. and Jason. Ron and Vickie raised their family in Wilmington; they had many joyous memories on Hopkins St, with pool parties, card games, and just enjoying time with family and friends (often engaging in heated debates with good friends). Ron also enjoyed coaching his sons’ sports teams. Ron and Vickie moved to Henderson, NV in 1993, and enjoyed the sun and lifestyle there prior to Vickie’s passing in 2001 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Ron was blessed to find love again with his second wife, Brenda. They loved to travel, enjoying Hawaii and their many cross-country trips. They loved visiting family and friends, eating “real Chinese food,” and spending time at Hampton Beach with his brother and family. They also loved visiting their children and grandchildren in Denver and Utah.
Most of Ron’s employment involved driving, which he truly enjoyed. He drove a cab, an 18 wheeler for Purity Supreme, an ice cream truck, oil truck, and an airport shuttle. Later, he drove for Meals on Wheels, which he loved. He said it made him so happy to help people who weren’t able to leave their homes, getting to know them and their pets. But the job he seemed to enjoy the most was working as a school crossing guard. His face always lit up when he spoke about talking with and giving fist bumps to “his kids.”
Ron loved talking to people and made friends wherever he went. He loved making people laugh, especially his grandchildren. Even when dementia had taken hold, he still instinctively made silly faces and did his best to crack jokes whenever there were children around. Ron made you feel loved and will truly be missed by those who knew him.
Ron is survived by his wife, Brenda, his son Ron Jr. (Kristin), his brothers Buddy (Priscilla) and Tommy (Debbie), his stepsons Steve (Susan) and Scott (Stacey), his grandchildren and step- grandchildren, Miranda, Tyler, Lilah, Sawyer, Shelbi, Mitchell, Drew, and Ellie. Ron was pre-deceased by his parents, his son Jason, sister Kathy and brother-in-law Gene.
Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Saturday, June 11th from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ron’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
