WILMINGTON, MA — Charles P. Minghella, “Charlie”, age 24, of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly in an auto accident on May 27, 2022.

Charlie was born in Winchester, MA, on January 31, 1998; he is the cherished son of Michelle (Fitzpatrick) and Mark Minghella of Wilmington.

Charlie was part of a large and loving family in Wilmington; he attended Wilmington Schools and was a graduate of Wilmington High School with the Class of 2016. Charlie was quite an athlete throughout his life; he played Pop Warner Football, Youth Lacrosse, Wilmington Little League, Youth Wrestling, and went on to play Wilmington High School lacrosse and football where he was captain of both teams.

Charlie was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed the time he spent with family and friends at the Lake House in New Hampshire, he loved fishing for hours at a time, skiing, 4 Wheeling on his quad, racing his go carts and riding his Harley with his friends. Charlie was meticulous with his car, his motorcycle, his work tools; and kept everything in pristine condition. Charlie was a bit of a dare devil throughout his life and could throw a “mean football pass” from the back of his dirt bike.

Charlie was talented beyond his years and a “jack of all trades”; from a young age he could take apart and put together an engine, run machinery, assemble furniture or fix any other mechanical object that needed repair.

Following his graduation from Wilmington High School, Charlie joined the Murphy Electric Company in the summer of 2016. Charlie worked as a company truck driver and warehouse person. In 2018, Charlie was accepted into the apprenticeship class at Local 103 IBEW. Throughout the years, Charlie grew and became talented at his craft; he was very responsible and someone that others could rely on. Charlie was finishing up his 4th year apprenticeship, hitting the home stretch and looking forward to starting his career as an electrician. Charlie made many good friends at Murphy electrical who loved him dearly.

Charlie’s family was “his world”; he looked forward to family parties, holidays, cook outs by the pool, family Sunday dinners and trips to Falmouth. The Minghella household was always open to family, extended family and their many friends; Charlie looked forward to seeing everyone and having a house full of people every weekend. Charlie loved his parents and siblings with all his heart and just adored being a loving uncle to his seven nieces and nephews.

Charlie will be fondly remembered as a “great kid”; he was always willing to help others and would literally give you the shirt off his back. He was kind and thoughtful with a contagious laugh and a smile that would light up the room. Charlie touched so many people throughout his life and will forever be loved and missed by all who knew him.

Besides his parents who survive him, Charlie leaves his beloved siblings Matthew Minghella and his wife Shannon, Christopher Minghella, Nicole Minghella French, Phillip Minghella and his fiance Elyssa Vidito, Jonathan Parrella and Catherine Parrella and her fiance William Helinski.
