WILMINGTON, MA — Judith Rachdorf, “Judy”, age 79, of Wilmington, passed away on May 20, 2022, at the Bear Hill Nursing Center in Stoneham, MA.
Judy was born on November 24, 1942, in Franklin, NH; she was the cherished only child of Ernest J. and Marion (Walker) Decato. Judy was raised in Tilton, NH and graduated from Tilton Northfield High School.
Following graduation, Judy attended Wheaton College, where she studied music. She also earned her master’s degree in education from Northeastern University.
Judy went to work at the New England Conservatory in Boston; as a phonograph record librarian where she thoroughly enjoyed her position and met Robert A. Rachdorf.
Judy and Bob were married on July 13,1968. They moved to Wilmington, where they raised their two sons, Eric, and Kurt. Judy was a devoted mother who enjoyed spending time with her sons and supporting their scouting and school events.
Judy was a talented musician; she was an avid flute player and taught music class. Judy enjoyed teaching others her musical passion. Judy worked in purchasing for the Brockway-Smith Company in Andover for 27 years before retiring.
Judy was an active member of the Wilmington United Methodist Church. She was involved in many church functions including United Methodist Conference, UMW, Social concerns committee, Book group, Bible Study, Choir and teaching handbell choir. Judy also enjoyed her time at the Senior Center in Wilmington; she made many friends and loved to participate in the activities at the Center.
Judy was a loving mother and “Grandma”; she was very active in their lives and loved to hear what was new and exciting. Judy will be missed by her family, friends and her beloved cat Schatzi who has a loving new home with a family friend.
Judy was the beloved wife of the late Robert A. Rachdorf, devoted mother of Eric Rachdorf & his wife Sherry of Nashua, NH, and Kurt Rachdorf & his wife Michelle of Burlington, loving “Grandma” of Damian Rachdorf & his wife Kaitlyn and Katrina Rachdorf. Judy is also survived by many loving friends.
Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Service at the Wilmington United Methodist Church, 87 Church St., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Friday, May 27th at 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations in Judy’s name may be made to the Wilmington United Methodist Church, 87 Church St., Wilmington, MA 01887.
