OBITUARY: John “Jack” Moran, 84

WILMINGTON, MA — John J. Moran “Jack”, age 84, a long-time resident of Wilmington, MA, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on May 12, 2022.

Jack was born on October 4, 1937, in Medford, MA; he was the dear son of the late John J. Moran and Theresa (Travers) Moran. Jack was raised and educated in Somerville, MA and a graduate of Somerville High School.

As a young man, Jack, went to work at the Kevlin Company in Woburn, MA; he started at a ground level and through much hard work and dedication to the company worked his way through the ranks.

Jack was a great “hands on” employee and supervisor; he had an endearing personality and was always willing to help his co-workers. Jack had a vast knowledge of the microwave manufacturing field; he worked through lots of changes in the industry throughout the years and kept up on the latest improvements. Jack’s hard work paid off as he retired as the President and CEO of the Company following 50 years of dedication in his field.

Jack married his “sweetheart” Janet D’Angelo on August 24, 1957; the couple shared many wonderful times with their family and friends throughout the years. Jack and Janet moved to Wilmington in 1961, where they raised their family. Jack unconditional love and devotion to his family was evident in everything he did. Jack and Janet opened their home to countless family and friends, they hosted many holiday celebrations and he looked forward to having everyone together for his famous pool parties and cook outs. In his later years, Jack, treasured his role as a grandfather and great-grandfather; he was so proud of his family and all their accomplishments.

In his spare time, Jack, along with his wife Janet and their many friends enjoyed traveling the world, seeing new places and meeting new people. They took many memorable trips with their family and friends, and they always looked forward to having a great time when they were together.

Jack was an avid golfer; he took to the greens whenever and wherever he could. Jack passed along his love of golf to his sons and enjoyed playing many rounds with “his boys”.

Jack will be fondly remembered as a “great guy”; he was kind, friendly, outgoing, and always willing to help everyone. Jack will forever be in the hearts of those he touched.

Jack was the beloved husband of nearly 65 years to Janet (D’Angelo) Moran, devoted father of the late John “Jack” Moran and his wife Marlene of Wilmington, Patricia “Patty” Murphy and her husband Bob of Wilmington, formerly of Reading, Tim Moran and his wife Leslie and Nancy O’Keefe and her husband Paul all of Tewksbury. Loving “Grampy” of Jaclyn McGowan and her husband James, Dean Moran, Krystle Foster and her husband Ethan, Kelsey Little and her husband Jeff, Kevin Moran and his fiancé Jen Sutton, Bryan O’Keefe and his fiancé Shauna Fusco, Brendan O’Keefe and his fiancé Taylor Hawkins, Brandon O’Keefe and his great-grandchildren Olivia and Matthew Foster, Bryce and Saoirse Little, Declan McGowan and Rosalie Moran. Jack was the dear brother of the late Maureen Curry and her late husband Tom, he is further survived by his nieces, nephews, and friends.

Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Monday, May 16th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. A Service to Celebrate Jack’s life will take place at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 17th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations in John’s memory be made to the Jack Moran Charitable Foundation, c/o Marlene Moran, 8 Factory Road, Wilmington, MA 01887.
