Below is an announcement from the Wilmington Recreation Department:
WILMINGTON, MA — If you are a strong swimmer, and a responsible and mature employee, we are pleased to provide information for a Lifeguard Certification class to be held over April vacation at the Shawsheen Tech High School pool.
Instructor: Tom Tringale – contact him directly at firstname.lastname@example.org
Dates: Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from Friday, April 22, 2022, 7:15am-11am
Cost: $250 (check or Venmo to Tom Tringale)
*Students are required to attend every day of the class.
*There is NO REFUND once the course begins.
*No make up day is offered unless a cancellation is made by Tom.
*On the first day of class, all students will need to swim 300 yards of the pool (100 free, 100 breast, 50 free, 50 breast), retrieve a 12 lb. rubber brick from the deepest part of the pool 10.5 feet, and tread for 2 minutes.
*The course is broken up to cover specific portions of the curriculum. We may not use the entire time per day. If we are going to finish early, I will give you all a chance to notify your ride so that they are here by the conclusion of the class.
*Students will be in the water on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Thursday will be held entirely in the class room as we will be covering First Aid/CPR/AED.
*Students will be taking two written multiple choice tests: First Aid/CPR/AED will be done at the end of the class on Thursdays while General Lifeguard Knowledge will be done on Friday. Students have two chances to pass the written tests. Failure to pass will result in an automatic failure of the course.
*Boys, please wear regular board shorts in the water rather than swim team suits.
*The certification is good for two years
Once certified, and if 16 years and up, applications will be accepted by the Wilmington Recreation Department for Lifeguard positions at Town Beach for the Summer 2022 season. Email email@example.com with your application, or any questions.
