Below is an announcement from the Wilmington Police Department:
WILMINGTON, MA — With the warm weather approaching, the Wilmington Police Department begins to get more complaints of scam-artists who present themselves as contractors.
Residents should be suspicious contractors who:
1) Claim to be doing another job in the neighborhood.
2) Claim that they can give you a cheap price by using leftover material.
3) Pressure you to hire them right away to get a discount.
4) Demand upfront payment, or offer to arrange financing through a lender they know.
If you are the victim of a scam or suspect that someone may be attempting to scam you, please call the Wilmington Police Department immediately at 978-658-5071.
