Wilmington Sees Multiple House Break-Ins Over The Weekend, Police Ask For Public’s Help

WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Police Department is investigating break-ins at two houses — one on Cunningham Street and one on Salem Street — from over the weekend.

According to the Police Log, on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 8:57pm, a caller reported that, around 8:44pm, they received a notification from their Nest camera in their kitchen of what looked like a flash light. They requested an officer do a perimeter check.

Police responded and observed an open window in the back of the house. A break-in was confirmed. Police requested a K9 from the State Police which arrived and tracked areas on Middlesex Avenue, High Street, Earles Row, and elsewhere. Police was able to reach homeowner after multiple calls and a voicemail. Police also spoke with a neighbor. A caller on Salem Street reported having seen a party run out of the woodline.

A caller from Cunningham Street reported fresh footprints on their property. Caller stated the footprints are towards the back of his house and go towards his neighbor’s house on the left.  Police responded and confirmed the footprints. No further details about the incident were included in the log.

Then on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at 4:29pm, a Beeching Avenue caller stated she left in the morning and arrived home to find her front door open. Police responded and confirmed a break-in had occurred. A nearby house on the street has cameras. Homeowner will try to get footage for detectives.

Residents who noted any suspicious activity in the areas are asked to call detectives at 978-658-5071.

Wilmington Police encourage residents to always lock their windows and doors.
