WILMINGTON, MA — According to the Town Clerk’s Office, as of Tuesday, only seven residents have pulled nomination papers to run in the 2022 Town Election. There are six seats up for grabs. The filing deadline is this Friday, March 4, 2022.
Selectmen Race
Two seats will be decided. Incumbents Greg Bendel and Kevin Caira have both pulled papers to run for re-election. Challenger Paul Sarnowski has also pulled papers. Caira and Sarnowski have already returned their papers.
School Committee Race
Three seats will be decided. Incumbents Jay Samaha and Jesse Fennelly have both pulled papers to run for re-election. Incumbent Jo Newhouse recently announced she would not be seeking re-election. Political newcomer Steven Turner has pulled papers. Samaha and Turner have already returned their papers.
Shawsheen Tech School Committee Race
One seat will be decided. Incumbent Robert Peterson Sr. recently announced he would not be seeking re-election after serving for 28 years. Political newcomer Gwendilyn Hupper-Lawson has pulled papers. She has yet to return them.
Housing Authority Race
One seat will be decided. Incumbent Stacie Murphy has pulled papers to run for re-election. She has yet to return them.

Nomination papers are still available in the Wilmington Town Clerk’s Office. Papers, with at least 50 valid signatures from Wilmington voters, are due back to the Town Clerk by Friday, March 4, 2022 at 4:30pm.
The Annual Town Election will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022. Polls will be open from 8am to 8pm.
The last day to register to vote for the Annual Town Election is Monday, April 4, 2022.
