OBITUARY: Edward F. Casey, 78

Below is an obituary from the Dracut Funeral Home:

DRACUT, MA — Edward F. Casey, age 78, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away at Lowell General Hospital on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Karen M. (Peso) Casey with whom he enjoyed 51 years of marriage.

He was born in Boston on September 27, 1943 and was the son of the late Joseph W. and Helen (McCabe) Casey.

Edward grew up in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School where he was honored as a member of their Sports Hall of Fame. He then attended Boston College where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree. Edward was a used car buyer and worked for many years at Wilmington Ford, Auto Auction of New England in Londonderry, NH and more recently at Auto Use in Andover until his retirement. A true sports fan, he loved all Boston teams. When not watching a game, he enjoyed reading at home. Edward was a longtime member of the Tewksbury/Wilmington Elks. Above all, he cherished his family and was happiest surrounded by his loved ones at pool parties and gatherings at their family home.

In addition to his loving wife, Edward is survived by his children, Elizabeth M. Panfil and her husband Lawrence of Dracut, and Timothy E. Casey of Dracut; his grandsons, Shawn and Tyler Panfil; his siblings, Carol A. Casey of Hampton, NH, Virginia Babine and her husband David of Nashua, NH, and Hugh “Chuck” Casey and his wife Sandra of Boynton Beach, FL; his sister-in-law Carol McGee and her husband William McGee of Thornton, CO, and brother-in-law, Anthony Peso and his partner Chris Holmes of Lebanon, ME; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Joseph W. Casey, Jr. and his wife Carol Casey.

Visiting hours were held on Monday, January 31st from 8:30-10:00 am at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11am at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 115 Wheeler Rd., DRACUT. Interment will be held in the spring in Oakland Cemetery, DRACUT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edward’s memory to the American Heart Association.
