OBITUARY: Valerie (Merrill) Lindgren, 79

Below is an obituary from Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home:

YORK BEACH, ME — Valeria Lindgren (Merrill) of York Beach Maine, passed away peacefully at the age of 79 on January 26, 2022, at York Hospital. She made her way to heaven while holding her devoted husband’s hands surrounded by the love of her children.

Valeria, born on October 17, 1942, in Revere, MA, was the daughter of Goodwin and Ethel Merrill. She was a graduate of Revere high school and went on to marry her husband and best friend, Wayne, on May 17, 1964. During that 57 years of marriage, she had two sons who became her whole world. She was a homemaker and caregiver at heart and was devoted to her family and friends. Her home was filled with love and laughter. So much so, her son’s friends affectionately called her Ma and would spend a lot of their time at the house in Wilmington, MA, a house that she made a home for everyone she met. She loved being a part of all of their shenanigans. She and Wayne also enjoyed their second home in York Beach since 1983 and eventually made it their permanent home in 1997 where they would watch people from the front porch and host epic beach BBQs with family and friends.

Those who knew Valeria could feel her kind heart instantly. She was the person you would go to for advice and the biggest hug that would seem to take away any sadness. She shared her words of wisdom and opinions with passion and humor. She made friends everywhere she went. She loved her family camp up at Angle Pond in Sandown, NH where she would meet her future sister in law and some life long friends. Valerie loved camping, vacations, watching movies, playing video games, arguing about current events, and family dinners.

She is predeceased by her parents, sister, Virginia Fiore from Revere, and two brothers, Victor from Revere and Phillip from Middleton, MA.

She is survived by her husband Wayne, her son’s, Bryan Lindgren and his wife Sara of South Berwick, ME and Eric Lindgren of York Beach, ME. Her four beautiful grandchildren, Kelsey, Madeleine, Erin, Jayden, and two sweet great-grandchildren, Luke, and Abigail. Finally her sister Verna Leander from Beverly Hills, FL. All whom she loved more than anything in this world. She was extremely close to her nieces, nephews, and friends who became family. She is going to be missed beyond belief.

Upon her wishes, there will be a celebration of life in her honor in the springtime.
