VIRTUAL Raising the Dead: Finding Clues to Ancestors from Headstones, Family Plots & Burial Records

Monday, February 7, 2:30pm

Cemetery records can offer important clues to understanding the lives of those who came before us. Join NEHGS Chief Genealogist David Allen Lambert—author of A Guide to Massachusetts Cemeteries (now in its third edition)—to learn how headstones, family plots, and burial documents can shed new light on your ancestor’s life.

VIRTUAL Author Talk: The Last Negroes at Harvard

Thursday, February 10, 7pm

One of the trailblazing Harvard grads of ‘63, Kent Garrett, began to reconnect with his classmates and explore their vastly different backgrounds, lives, and what their time at Harvard meant. By the time they were seniors, they would have demonstrated against injustice, had lunch with Malcolm X, experienced heartbreak and the racism of academia, and joined with their African national classmates to fight for the right to form an exclusive Black students’ group.

This is a social group for those who do any kind of needle craft. Bring your knitting, crocheting, quilting, etc. and enjoy a little conversation and camaraderie—drop in. Everyone is welcome!

OUTDOOR Tracking & Trailing

Saturday, February 12, 10am

In this intergenerational program, Andrew Prazar from North Shore Nature Programs will teach us how to identify winter wildlife from the tracks and signs they leave behind in the Wildwood Cemetery. We will meet at the library and walk over to the cemetery together. Please wear comfortable winter footwear and dress for the weather.
