Reporting to: Inspector of Buildings
Wages: $607.62 per week
Hours: 19 hrs./week during the work day Monday through Friday
Location: Wilmington Town Hall

Works under the supervision of the Building Inspector. The individual will be responsible for technical and inspection work related to the enforcement and interpretation of the Massachusetts State Plumbing and Gas codes relative to residential, commercial, and industrial building construction and renovation. Responsible for compliance with laws for plumbing and gas safety. Must be technically qualified to read and interpret blueprints, schematic and technical drawings and must also have the ability to interact with the public in a professional and responsible manner.
Applicants must possess a current Massachusetts Master Plumber’s License. Must have completed the necessary requirements for continuing education hours for State Certified Plumbing and Gas Inspectors. Requirements include 5 years’ experience utilizing a valid plumbing/gas license. General understanding of office procedures. A valid Massachusetts Driver’s License is required and must own a vehicle.
Knowledge, Ability and Skill
Ability to enforce the code fairly and impartially. Ability to stay informed of code changes. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, the public and other Town departments.
Moderate effort is generally required in the field as well as various weather conditions. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, speak and hear, stoop, bend and reach. Physical agility is required to access plumbing and gas fixtures. The employee is occasionally required to lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
