WILMINGTON, MA — Below are 5 things to know in Wilmington on Wednesday, September 22, 2021:
#1) Watch Wilmington School Committee Meeting
The Wilmington School Committee meets at 7pm in the High School’s Large Instruction Room. Agenda items include student health & safety measures in light of COVID-19, new social emotional learning measures, and an equity audit of the district. Read the full agenda HERE. #2) Watch Wilmington Commission On Disabilities Meeting
The Wilmington Commission on Disabilities meets at 6:30pm via Zoom. Read the agenda HERE.
#3) Drive-Thru Dessert At Wilmington Senior Center
The Wilmington Senior Center is holding a Drive-Thru Dessert Event on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 1pm in the Center’s parking lot. Celebrate the first day of Autumn with some apple pie and ice cream. The event is free of cost thanks to an anonymous donor. Sign up began on Friday, September 3, 2021 by calling the Center at 978-657-7595. Space is limited.
#4) LIBRARY EVENT: Outdoor ‘Time For Twos’
This 9:30am storytime includes books, rhymes, music and movement. Registration is for the six-week session. In the event of inclement weather, or temperatures under 55° or above 85°, storytime will move INDOORS. (Age 2). Masks are required for ages 2-12 per the Wilmington Board of Health. Register HERE.
#5) Wilmington Food Pantry Open For Assistance
The Wilmington Community Fund services a pantry supplying food products on a bimonthly basis to those in need. If you are experiencing food-insecurity and you need help you, are welcome. Shelves are stocked solely by community donations. Food items can be dropped in the marked bins at Market Basket and Lucci’s, as drop-off times on Saturdays are limited due to the Coronavirus.
If you are a Wilmington resident in need of assistance, please stop by the Food Pantry at 142 Chestnut Street (Old South School House) to fill out an application. Proof of residency (photo ID, pay stub or a current bill) is required. An interview for assistance will be conducted on-site.
How to Register for Food Assistance
No appointment is necessary. Interviews for assistance are conducted on site at the food pantry on Wednesdays (as shown above on schedule). Vital information about you and your family is necessary to create a profile and is not a guarantee that assistance will be provided.
Please bring the following information with you:
- Name, address, phone number, size of family
- Proof of Residency – (i.e., utility bill, rent/mortgage bill, EBT card, health insurance, library card, etc.)
- List of Income(s) – Paycheck Stub, Child Support, SSI, Food Stamps, TANF, Unemployment Check
All information provided is strictly confidential.
In September, the Pantry is open for pick-ups on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, and Wednesday, September 22, 2021, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Registrants are welcome to use the pantry one time per month.
