OBITUARY: Glen B. Lucas, 87

Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — Glen B. Lucas, age 87, of Waterboro, ME, formerly a long-time resident of Wilmington, MA, passed away at home on September 16, 2021.

Glen was born in Waltham, MA, on January 26, 1934; he was the dear son of the late Paul and Edith (Bradley) Lucas. Glen was raised and educated in Newton, MA, and he attended Newton Vocational High School where he learned the machinist trade.

In July of 1950, Glen enlisted in the United States National Guard which prompted a career that spanned more than 37 years. Glen loved his job, he worked as a dog trainer at the Missile Site in Lincoln, MA. Glen made many life-long friends with his co-workers and had a special passion for the dogs that he trained, especially Star. Glen went on to the Armory in Methuen where he worked as a machinist before retiring in 1996. Glen was honorably discharged from the National Guard following many years of dedication to our country and our safety.

Glen married the love of his life, Joan Marie Brennick, on April 14, 1955. The couple lived in Billerica, MA, for several years before moving to Wilmington in the early 1960s where they raised a wonderful family. Glen looked forward to the time spent with family during their annual Labor Day parties, family holidays, and special occasion; any excuse to make his famous macaroni and cheese. Glen and Joan shared many wonderful years together with their family and friends before Joan’s passing in 2012.

Following retirement, Glen and Joan, along with their sons, built their dream retirement home on a pond in Waterboro, Maine. Glen loved sitting out on his porch admiring the view over the pond, but he also looked forward to visits and parties that they had at their home in Maine with their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and their many friends. Glen referred to those times as “the best time of their lives”; this is where countless memories were made throughout the years in Maine; funny times that will be shared for generations to come.

Glen was always a “glass half full” person with a great sense of humor. He was known to be a prankster and go on with jokes for hours. Glen could always see the best in others, go out of his way to help, and make everyone feel welcomed and loved. He would always leave you with a joke, sometimes less than appropriate. He was truly “one of a kind” and will forever be in the hearts of those he touched.

Glen was the beloved husband of 57 years to the late Joan Marie (Brennick) Lucas, the devoted father of Glen J. Lucas and his wife Barbara of Stark, NH, Mark S. Lucas formerly of Wilmington, MA, Donna M. Keller and her husband Kirk of Methuen, MA, Bradley J. Lucas of Wilmington, MA, and Wayne P. Lucas and his wife Jean of Pelham, NH. Loving “Grandad” of Kerrin Rounds and her husband Keith, Glen Charles Lucas and his wife Charelle, Adam Lucas, Chris Lucas, Matt Jamison-Lucas and his wife Kim, Stephanie Marie Lucas, Meghan Keller and her partner Paul Fowler, Courtney Keller and her fiancé Ryan Sadezwicz, Samantha Lucas, Bradley Lucas, Ryan Lucas and his partner Brittany Cain, Keith Lucas, Wayne Paul Lucas and his husband Alex Friedman, Stephanie Lucas and her fiancé Nicholas Allen, and his great-grandchildren Glen Alton, Charles Marcus, Adalee, Benjamin, Ripley, Brody, Cali, Hailey, Ava and Aubrey. He was the cherished son of the late Paul and Edith Lucas, and dear brother of the late Donald Lucas. Glen was also very special to Lori Howe of Maine, and is further survived by his sister-in-law, as well as his many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Monday, September 20th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, September 21st at 10:00 a.m. in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA, followed by interment with Military Honors that will take place in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA.
