OBITUARY: James “Jim” Michael Gallagher, 86

WILMINGTON, MA — James Michael Gallagher, “Jim”, age 86, of Wilmington, MA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on August 19, 2021.

Jim was born on January 16, 1935, in Cambridge, MA; he was the dear son of the late George E. and Emma M. (Rowan) Gallagher. Jim was part of a large and loving family who was raised and educated in Cambridge.

Prior to retiring, Jim, was employed for many years as a roofer for the Roofer’s Union Local #33.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife Sylvia R. (McPherson) Gallagher of Wilmington, he was the devoted father of Patricia Ann Sullivan and her late husband Joseph of Wilmington, James Joseph Gallagher and his wife Mary of Wilmington, Paul Patrick Gallagher and his wife Maritza of Michigan and Richard McLeod. He was the loving “Papa” of Lynn Gallagher, Danielle and Jason McMasters, Jamie Gallagher and Taylor Haynes, Briana Gallagher, Ashleigh Sullivan, Kristen Sullivan, Adam Sullivan and Great-Grandchildren Bradley and Evan. Dear brother of Kathleen McLeod, Barbara Keohane, the late Marion Teahan, Dottie Nugent, George Gallagher, Billy Gallagher, Johnny Gallagher, Eddie Gallagher and Bobby Gallagher. Jim is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

At this time all services for Jim will be private. Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Nichols Funeral Home, Wilmington, MA.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jim’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
