#1) SPECIAL ELECTION For Vacant Selectmen Seat TODAY
The Special Town Election to fill a seat on the Wilmington Board of Selectmen takes place from 8am to 8pm at regular polling locations. Mark Nelson and former Selectwoman Judy O’Connell are vying to fill the vacancy left after former Selectwoman Jomarie O’Mahony’s resignation. Learn more HERE.
#2) LIBRARY EVENT: Pints & Pages Book Group At Red Heat Tavern
Enjoy this social book group geared towards readers in their 20’s and 30’s. The group meets on the first Thursday of every other month. The book discussion will be hosted by librarians from the Wilmington and Reading Public Libraries. Meeting location rotates between Wilmington and Reading. #3) Wilmington Senior Center Looking For Homebound Meal Drivers
Are you looking to fill some time in mornings? The Buzzell Senior Center is looking for a home delivered meals driver one or two mornings per week. Please call the Center at 978-657-7595.
#4) Register For Wilmington Farmers Market’s Cornhole Tournament Later This Month
Please join us at the Wilmington Farmers Market on Sunday, September 19, 2021 on the Swain Green for a family fun day of cornhole! 24 teams! Double elimination brackets! Cash prizes for top 3 teams!
The tournament is open for online pre-registration (as space allows), and day of team and individual player registration. There is enough space for up to 24 teams. This is a blind draw, double-elimination (you have to lose twice to be eliminated) tournament, following the rules of the American Cornhole Association.
Funds generated from the tournament will benefit the operation of the Wilmington Farmers Market 2022 season and beyond.
Teams and individual players will need to arrive between 9:30 and 10:00 am for a 10:15 am tournament start. The Tournament will be completed by 1:00 pm at the close of the Market.
Team and Individual registration is now open online HERE. Individuals will be paired with one another on or before event day. Teams are $40 each, individuals are $20 each. Payment can be made online in advance with a credit card, or the morning of the tournament by cash or check.
#5) Sign Up For The Veterans End Of Summer BBQ Later This Month
Wilmington veterans and their families are invited to a free End of Summer BBQ on Friday, September 17, 2021 at noon at the Wilmington Knights of Columbus Hall (112 Middlesex Avenue).
Space is limited and reservations are required. Call the Wilmington Department of Veterans Services at 978-694-2020 to reserve your spot.
