LIBRARY NEWS: 6-Week Storytime Sessions For Babies, Two-Year Olds & Preschoolers Begin Week Of September 6

Below is a press release from the Wilmington Memorial Library promoting upcoming programs:

Don’t forget to Sign Up for the Town-Wide Yard Sale!

The Wilmington Memorial Library is once again sponsoring a Town Wide Yard Sale on Saturday, September 18 for those wishing to hold a yard sale at their home and have the library advertise. The application fee is $15 (deadline is Saturday, September 11). The fee includes yard sale signs, a listing on the yard sale map and lots of publicity. For shoppers, maps of yard sale locations will be available at the library and at Market Basket starting Wednesday, September 15. Participation in the yard sale is limited to the first 65 houses to sign up.

Closed for Labor Day

The library will be closed on Saturday, September 4 and Monday, September 6 in honor of Labor Day.

Adult Programs

INDOOR Needleworkers
Friday, September 3, 10 am
This is a social group for those who do any kind of needle craft. Bring your knitting, crocheting, quilting, etc. and enjoy a little conversation and camaraderie—drop in. Everyone welcome!

VIRTUAL Fiction Critique Group
Saturday, September 4, 9:15 am
Love writing fiction? Whether you are drafting a short story or a novel, joining our Critique Group is a great opportunity to meet other writers and get constructive feedback in a supportive environment. Open to all experience levels writing in all genres. Led by local writing enthusiast, Barbara Alevras. INDOOR Craft and Chat
Wednesday, September 8, 7 pm
Enjoy making a craft while socializing with others!  This new craft group will meet September through March on the second Wednesday of the month at 7 pm.  All craft supplies provided.  Led by Library Associate Kim Lambert.

Featured Craft:  Block Printed Tea Towels

In keeping with the WML Earth Year theme, we are going to take a step toward eliminating paper towels from our lives by designing Block-Printed tea towels. We will design and cut simple block stamps and use those to create one-of-a-kind designer tea towels for our kitchen or to give as a gift.

Youth Programs

Masks are required for children ages 2 to 12 while visiting the Children’s Room.

VIRTUAL Among Us
Tuesday, September 7, 7pm

Join your crewmates in a multiplayer game of teamwork and betrayal over Zoom! Download the free Among Us app, and play in a private match hosted by the WML. Grades 6-12

INDOOR LEGO Building
Thursday, September 9, 4pm

Build with LEGOs at the same time as other LEGO fans at the library. At the end, you can share what you made during the time. Ages 5+

A note about storytimes: All storytimes take place in the back of the library, next to the Peggy Kane Reading Garden. In the event of inclement weather, or temperatures under 55° or above 85°, storytime will move INDOORS. 


OUTDOOR Preschool Storytime
Tuesday, September 7, 9:30 am
This storytime includes books, rhymes, music and movement. Registration is for the six-week session. Ages 3-6

OUTDOOR Time For Twos
Wednesday, September 8, 9:30 am
This storytime includes books, rhymes, music and movement. Registration is for the six-week session. 2-year olds

OUTDOOR Baby Time
Thursday, September 9, 9:30 am
This storytime includes books, rhymes, music and movement. Registration is for the six-week session. 0-23 Months


OUTDOOR Drop-In Storytime
Friday, September 10, 10 am
This storytime includes books, rhymes, music and movement. No registration required. Ages 2+

WML In-Person Programming

Registration is required for most in-person programs. If a program is outdoors and inclement weather is forecast, the program may be held virtually on Zoom or inside the library.  Please check out website on the day of the program to confirm location.

WML Virtual Programming

The library continues to offer a variety of virtual events. Please note that registration is required in order to receive the Zoom link. Go to wilmlibrary.org to register or call 978-658-2967.
