WILMINGTON, MA — Below are 5 things to know in Wilmington on Monday, August 30, 2021:

#1) Wilmington Educational Foundation Wants Your Unwanted Clothes, Shoes, Stuffed Animals & More

The Wilmington Educational Foundation has partnered with Baystate Textiles to raise funds through an ongoing textile recycling rebate program.

Bag up any of your unwanted footwear, clothing, accessories, linens and stuffed animals and place them in the donation boxes located outside each of Wilmington’s public schools. Donations can be in any condition as long as they’re clean and dry.

The Wilmington Educational Foundation will receive a rebate of $100 for every ton of textiles collected.  WEF earns thousands of dollars each year from this fundraiser.

#2) Selectmen Now Accepting Petitions From Unaccepted Streets

The Board of Selectmen of the Town of Wilmington gives notice that all informal petitions for warrant articles for Acceptance of Streets by Betterment Plan, so called, in the Town of Wilmington for the 2022 Annual Town Meeting must be filed with the Town Clerk, Town Hall, Wilmington, no later than 4:30pm on September 3, 2021.

#3) Selectmen Now Accepting Applications To Sell Christmas Trees

Deadline for filing applications for sale of Christmas trees for the 2021 season will be Thursday, September 2, 2021. All applications should be filed in the Town Manager’s office prior to the close of business on September 2, 2021.

#4) Registration Now Open For WCTV’s 2021-2022 Youth Programs

#5) Wilmington Kiwanis Club Holding $500 Raffle

The Wilmington Kiwanis Club is holding a ‘Grand Raffle’ to support Kiwanis Charities that directly impact the Wilmington community through service projects, scholarships, and children’s programs.

Tickets cost $20 each.  Only 250 will be sold.  The five winners will be drawn on September 13, 2021 or once sold out.  Prizes are as follows:

  • 1st Place: $500
  • 2nd Place: $400
  • 3rd Place: $300
  • 4th Place: $200
  • 5th Place: $100

Raffle tickets are on sale now.  To purchase a raffle ticket, contact a Kiwanis Club member or send it a message on its Facebook page.
