WILMINGTON, MA — In what was scheduled to be a Candidates Forum between the two Selectmen candidates running in the September 2 Special Election turned into a 30-minute interview for former 2-term Selectwoman Judy O’Connell after candidate Mark Nelson cancelled with event organizers minutes before air time due to an emergency.
O’Connell, instead, had a “Candidates Conversation” with former Town Manager Rob Peterson inside the studios of Wilmington Community Television, answering a half dozen questions solicited from viewers of WCTV and readers of Wilmington Apple.
Of note, O’Connell said she supports a contract renewal for longtime Town Manager Jeff Hull; she supports both the new Town Hall/School Administration Building project and new Senior Center project; and would want to learn more about proposals to create an Economic Development Coordinator and/or a Grant Writer at Town Hall before endorsing them. O’Connell also explained her background, her reason for running, and a couple of things she’d like local government to do better, while clearing up any misconceptions surrounding how her realtor profession would impact her decision-making while on the board.

Another supporter for the town manager’s last contract so he can get a bigger pension. remember always follow the $$$
FYI, I wasn’t on the Board of Selectmen for his last contract and had no say. I am on the Board now and will be supporting his next contract which I hope will be finalized very soon. Hope this helps with your accuracy.
clarification (last)
The total amount of years add up for Pension. So, in the years that you were elected to the Select Board, you didn’t vote in favor of the current TM’s contract(s)? If not, then I stand corrected.
