WILMINGTON, MA — The Town of Wilmington will hold a Special Town Election to fill a vacancy on the Board of Selectmen on Thursday, September 2, 2021, from 8am to 8pm.
The election will be held at Wilmington’s traditional polling locations:
Precincts 1 & 2 – Boutwell School, 17 Boutwell Street
Precincts 3 & 4 – Wildwood School, 182 Wildwood Street
Precincts 5 & 6 – Town Hall, 121 Glen Road
The deadline to register to vote in this election is Friday, August 13, 2021. Register at the Town Clerk’s Office at Town Hall (121 Glen Road, Room 12), which will be open until 8pm.
For voters who prefer not to vote in person on Election Day, alternatives exist. You can apply for Absentee or Early Vote by Mail ballots. Applications for mailed ballots must be received in the Office of Town Clerk by Friday, August 27, 2021 at 5pm.
Absentee ballots are available over the counter for eligible voters in the Office of Town Clerk through Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 12 noon. Special legislation effective through December 15, 2021 has expanded eligibility for absentee ballots to include as a reason of physical disability any person taking precautions related to COVID-19 in response to a declared state of emergency or guidance from a medical professional, local or state health official or any civil authority. Other allowable eligibility factors for absentee ballots are physical absence from the Town during the polling hours on Election Day and by reason of religious observance.
Voters may return their completed ballots by mail, by bringing them directly into our office in Room 12, or by placing them directly into the Town Hall Drop Slot, located next to the Town Hall front door at 121 Glen Road, Wilmington. All ballots must be received in the Office of Town Clerk by the close of the polls at 8:00 p.m. on September 2, 2021.
Voters who wish to vote but have been instructed by a medical professional or a local or state health official to self-quarantine in their home beginning after noon on Thursday, August 26, 2021 should call the Office of Town Clerk at the number below.
