WILMINGTON, MA — Below are 5 things to know in Wilmington on Wednesday, August 11, 2021:
#1) Watch Wilmington Town Hall/School Administration Building Committee Meeting
The Wilmington Town Hall/School Administration Building Committee meets at 6pm in the Town Hall Auditorium. WCTV will air the meeting live. Read the agenda HERE.
#2) Wilmington Food Pantry Is Open
The Wilmington Community Fund services a pantry supplying food products on a bimonthly basis to those in need. If you are experiencing food-insecurity and you need help you, are welcome. Shelves are stocked solely by community donations. Food items can be dropped in the marked bins at Market Basket and Lucci’s, as drop-off times on Saturdays are limited due to the Coronavirus.
If you are a Wilmington resident in need of assistance, please stop by the Food Pantry at 142 Chestnut Street (Old South School House) to fill out an application. Proof of residency (photo ID, pay stub or a current bill) is required. An interview for assistance will be conducted on-site.
How to Register for Food Assistance
No appointment is necessary. Interviews for assistance are conducted on site at the food pantry on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month. Vital information about you and your family is necessary to create a profile and is not a guarantee that assistance will be provided.
Please bring the following information with you:
- Proof of Residency – bring a current utility bill(s) or rent/lease agreement
- Driver’s License/Picture ID
- Social Security Numbers for each member of household (to be considered)
- Proof of Income(s) – Paycheck Stub, Child Support, SSI, Food Stamps, TANF,
- Unemployment Check
All information provided is strictly confidential.
In August, the Pantry is open for pick-ups on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, and Wednesday, August 25, 2021, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Registrants are welcome to use the pantry one time per month.
#3) LIBRARY EVENT: Outdoor Family Craft Night: “Etching” with Styrofoam!
For our last Family Craft Night of the summer, come learn how to “etch” in the simplest way possible! Fun and easy for the whole family! Ages K+. If inclement weather is forecast, this program may be held virtually on Zoom or postponed. Please check our calendar to confirm location. Register HERE.
#4) LIBRARY EVENT: ‘The Great Sitcoms Of All Time’ with Martin Gitlin
Join author and pop culture historian Martin Gitlin for a presentation on his book, ‘The Greatest Sitcoms of All Time,’ at 7pm via Zoom. Martin Gitlin is the only author to actually rank the best of the best sitcoms created, including “I Love Lucy,” “All in the Family,” “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” “Cheers,” “Seinfeld,” “Frasier” and “Modern Family.” He will show funny snippets from those shows and others, challenge patrons with sitcom trivia (including identifying cool theme songs!), discuss the criteria he used to rank the greatest sitcoms ever and talk about how sitcoms have evolved over the decades in humor, presentation and content.
