WILMINGTON, MA — Joseph T. “Joe” Connors, a 31 year resident of Wilmington and formerly of Charlestown, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at his home in Wilmington. He was 63 years of age.
Joe was born in Boston on March 28, 1958, a son of the late Bartholomew J. Connors and Eleanor “Ma Connors” C. (Kiernan) Connors . He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and was an accomplished swimmer and diver at the Charlestown Boys and Girls Club. Joe worked as a Maintenance Engineer for U.S. Gypsum for over 30 years, until his retirement in 2008 when the factory was moved out of state. Joe was a lottery aficionado who saw numbers in everything. He loved scratch tickets, football, playing poker, visiting the beach, golf, and watching classic movies. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandson Dylan. He was the go-to jack of all trades, a loyal friend, and a great neighbor who was always there when someone needed help with anything. He kept in constant contact with his extended family members because he loved them dearly. Joe was very personable and will always be remembered for his great sense of humor, huge presence and big comforting hugs.
Joe is the beloved husband of 44 years to Camille (Rushing) Connors. He is the devoted father of Christin Mainini and her husband Jason, and Jennifer Connors-Perrow and her husband Derek. He is the loving Gramps of Dylan. He is the brother of James “Jimmy” Connors, Eileen “Karyn” Rock and her husband Rick, and the late William, Michael, and John “Kevin” Connors. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joe’s visiting hours on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 4 to 7 P.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Service at 7 P.M. in the funeral home. His burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, kindly make a memorial donation in Joe’s name to the Charlestown Boys and Girls Club, 15 Green St. Charlestown, MA 02129.
