WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Kiwanis Club will hold a Community Bike Swap on Saturday, October 16, 2021 and Sunday, October 17, 2021 on the Swain Green in the Town Common area.
“This would be a free event open to anyone who would care to donate an unused bike in return for first pick of said bikes for another bike,” explained Kiwanis President Jayne Taylor. “Following the exchange round, bikes would be open to all comers — all free of charge.”
The Kiwanis have obtained the services of a bike shop which will perform minor adjustments to bikes. The Wilmington Police Department and Fire Department will be invited to participate at the event, as will the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute at Tufts Floating Hospital in Boston, which often provides free bike helmets.
The Kiwanis will accept donated bikes on Saturday and service them. Bikes will be distributed on Sunday.
The Wilmington Board of Selectmen approved the Kiwanis Club’s request to use the Swain Green at the board’s July 12, 2021 meeting.
