Wilmington Residents Invited To Outdoor Plays At Tewksbury Library On Tuesday Nights This Summer

Below is a press release from the Tewksbury Public Library:

TEWKSBURY, MA — This summer, the Tewksbury Public Library is hosting “living history” performances on Tuesday nights, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, on its back lawn.

These popular one-person plays, performed by professional actors, include portrayals of American patriot Rachel Revere (actress Judith Kalora) on June 29; First Lady Dolley Madison (actress Sally Mummey) on July 13; 19th century medical inventor Lydia Pinkham (actress Irene Axelrod) on July 20; aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart (actress Jessa Piaia) on July 27; Civil War Hero Sgt. William Harvey Carney (actor Bruce Chester) on August 10; and abolitionist & suffragist Abby Hutchinson (actress Deborah Goss) on August 17. Also, singer-actors Wendee Glick and Bob DiCicco will perform “Love Letters From the Front — A Tribute To WW2 Heroes” on August 3. There is no performance on July 6.

These performances are family-friendly. More information about each can found on the library’s online calendar of events at www.tewksburypl.org.

No registration or tickets are required. These performances are free of charge and generously sponsored by the Friends of the Tewksbury Public Library.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets or chairs. In case of inclement weather, performances will be rescheduled to Tuesday nights in late August.

In addition to these plays, the Library is also hosting outdoor concerts on Monday nights, virtual bestselling author visits on Wednesday nights, and the town’s Community Market on Thursday nights. In addition, the Library has fun Summer Reading Programs planned for adults, teens and kids with hundreds of prizes. Adult summer reading participants, for example, will be eligible for a daily drawing to win a $10 gift certificate to Donna’s Donuts. (That’s 54 chances to win some of the best donuts around!)

The Tewksbury Public Library is located at 300 Chandler Street, at the corner of Chandler Street and Main Street (Route 38). Overflow parking is available in the field across from the library on Hospital Road. There is no parking allowed along Hospital Road.
