5 Things To Know In Wilmington On Saturday, June 19, 2021

WILMINGTON, MA — Below are 5 things to know in Wilmington on Saturday, June 19, 2021:

#1) Wilmington Democrats To Hold Virtual Caucus

Registered Democrats in Wilmington will hold a virtual caucus on June 19, 2021 at 9:30am to elect Delegates and Alternates to the 2021 Massachusetts Democratic State Convention. The caucus will take place virtually. Democrats who wish to participate virtually may register at https:/us02web.zoom.us/j/89087054133?pwd=VnF1NnFoN1dOQzlDbWg1K0Z5ZTRzZz09.

This year’s state convention will be held on September 25th at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell, where Democrats from across the state will come together to adopt a Party platform, discuss Party business and celebrate our successes as we prepare for the upcoming elections. The event will take place in line with all federal, state, and local health guidelines and will include a virtual option for participation.

The caucus is open to all registered and pre-registered Democrats in Wilmington. Pre-registered Democrats who will be 16 by June 15, 2021 will be allowed to participate and run as a Delegate or Alternate. Wilmington can elect 10 Delegates and 4 Alternates to the Convention.

Youth, minorities, people with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ individuals who are not elected as a Delegate or Alternate may apply to be an Add-on Delegate at the caucus or at http://www.massdems.org by August 6, 2021.

Those interested in getting involved with the Wilmington Democratic Town Committee should contact Jay Donovan at (978) 809-1243.

#2) Book Store Next Door Is Open With New Protocols

The Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library’s Book Store Next Door (183 Middlesex Avenue) is open from 10am to 4pm.

An important message from the Friends of the Library:

The Book Store Next Door is changing our COVID protocols. We have already resumed our normal business hours: Saturdays and Wednesdays 10 a.m.- 4p.m. Now that the governor has eased restrictions, we are gradually transitioning back to our regular operations. Until mid-June, masks will still be required for patrons and volunteers during business hours.

Beginning immediately we will no longer limit the number of shoppers inside, but “social distancing” is still encouraged to the extent possible in our tight quarters. However, we reserve the right to limit admissions and/or browsing times if conditions warrant.

Also effective immediately we are suspending our COVID traffic pattern. Customers should now come and go by the front door. Those dropping off donations should bring them to the back door (Please ring the doorbell for service if necessary). We are lifting the 1-2 bag/box limit on donations, but ask that you make prior arrangements for larger contributions.

As of Wednesday, June 16th, patrons and volunteers who are fully vaccinated will no longer be required to wear a face mask. We will continue to provide hand sanitizer prior to browsing.

Once again, we thank our faithful patrons and volunteers for your patience and cooperation over the past year. We can’t wait to see you all again soon. And we look forward to welcoming new shoppers (and donors) as we all celebrate “getting back to normal”.
