WILMINGTON, MA — Robert N. Bavota, “Bob”, age 91, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2021, at the Woburn Nursing Care Center.
Bob was born on April 23, 1930, in Medford, MA; he was the cherished son of Louis and Helen (Kimball) Bavota. Bob was raised in Medford and graduated from Medford High School.
Bob worked as a cigar salesman; he was impeccably dressed in a suit every day. Bob was a “people person” and was nice to everyone he met.
Bob married his sweetheart, Barbara Ann (Nau) Bavota on December 26, 1954. They lived in the city for a few years before settling in Wilmington in 1957, where they raised their four boys, Robert, Stephen, Thomas and David. The family had many wonderful memories in the Dorothy Ave. neighborhood for over sixty years.
Bob and Barbara enjoyed summers at Swanzey Lake Campground in New Hampshire with their family and friends. They loved to watch the kids enjoy themselves on the lake. They also spent time in Englewood, Florida.
In his spare time, Bob loved to watch his children and grandchildren play sports. He was their biggest fan and was on the sidelines for Little League, football, soccer and any other sport they were involved in.
Bob was a wonderful person and will be missed by his family and friends.
Bob was the beloved husband of the late Barbara A. (Nau) Bavota, devoted father of Robert J. Bavota & his wife Gaile of Hampton, NH, Thomas A. Bavota & his wife Sandi of Sierra Vista, AZ, David J. Bavota & his wife Tina of Wilmington and the late Stephen J. Bavota, loving “Grandpa” of Kati, T.J., John, Krissy, Nicole, Sarah, Sophia and Chris, “Great-Grandpa” of many great-grandchildren, dear brother of the late Barbara Crispo.
Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Saturday, June 5th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, June 4th from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
