WILMINGTON, MA — Mark A. Wagstaff, age 64, of Hampstead, NH, formerly of Wilmington, MA and Methuen, MA, passed away at home on May 12, 2021, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Mark was born in Woburn, MA, on March 12, 1957; he was the dear son of the late Robert and Margaret Wagstaff. Mark was raised and educated in Wilmington, MA, and a graduate of Wilmington High School with the Class of 1975.

Mark married his sweetheart Laurel Jewett in 1978; the couple lived in Wilmington for several years before moving to Methuen, MA, where they resided for many years and raised their beautiful daughter Kristyn. Mark always loved New Hampshire and five years ago he and Laurel moved to Hampstead where they enjoyed their new home.

Mark’s family was the center of his world; he showered them with unconditional love and devotion and enjoyed the many family gatherings that they shared throughout the years. Mark looked forward to his dad and daughter time that he spent with Kristyn which included dinner and a favorite movie. Mark and Laurel, along with their family, extended family and friends got together frequently throughout the years, whether it was sharing holidays, going to church outings and retreats or just sharing a meal; they always had a lot of fun.

Mark developed many interests and talents throughout his life; he loved to cook and enjoyed having guests at his dinner table to try some new and old recipe’s. Some of Mark’s favorite times in the kitchen involved making lobster pie and steamed clams to share with his daughter Kristyn. He also liked to whip up his father’s famous beef stew recipe and to make delicious meat sauce to pair with Laurel’s lasagna. Mark never got tired of the countless compliments he got from his family and friends about his cooking skills and enjoyed hearing them request their favorite dishes.

Mark’s love of music encouraged him to become a self-taught musician, learning guitar. Mark played at his church and enjoyed sharing the stage with his daughter Kristyn; he accompanied her on his guitar and provided background vocals while she sang. Mark was so proud of his daughter’s talents and always encouraged and supported her to continue performing.

Mark’s other interests included going to the gun range to improve on his skills and he was very interested in Sci Fi movies and shows; a subject that he shared with his daughter and son-in-law.

Mark was a man of faith and a member at New England Bible Church in Andover, MA, for many years. His kind nature and servant’s heart lead led him to volunteer to help others when he learned of a need, whether it be a fellow parishioner, a friend or neighbor. Mark could be found snow blowing, helping someone move something or using his truck for various projects that needed to be done.

Mark was a hard worker; for many years he was employed in the Commercial Auto Sales Industry, most recently at Auto Parts International Company. Mark had a great work ethic, an endearing personality and a vast knowledge of the industry. Mark enjoyed his job, his co-workers and his customers but as fate would have it he was forced to take an early retirement when his health issues proved too much.

Mark will be fondly remembered as a wonderful family man and a true friend to many. He was kind and generous with his time and talents and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Mark touched so many people in his life-time and he will forever be missed by all who loved him.
