WILMINGTON, MA — Below are 5 things to know in Wilmington on Thursday, May 6, 2021:
#1) Attend Wilmington Recreation Commission Meeting
The Wilmington Recreation Commission meets at 5pm in the Town Hall Auditorium. Read the agenda HERE.
#2) LIBRARY EVENT: Outdoor Baby Time
This program of songs, rhymes, games and picture books is for babies under the age of two years and their caregivers. The 10am program will be held behind the library next to the Peggy Kane Reading Garden. Please bring a blanket or low chairs and something for you and baby to shake (rattles, car keys, bottles full of rice or beans). Infants 0-24 months and their caregivers. Older siblings are welcome. Masks are required for all attendees ages 5 and up and strongly encouraged for children ages 2-5. If inclement weather is forecast, the baby time may be held virtually on Zoom. If that is the case, you will receive an email notification and a Zoom link the day of the program, but please check our website on the day of the program to confirm location. Register HERE.
#3) LIBRARY EVENT: Among Us Teen Game Afternoon
Join your crewmates in a multiplayer game of teamwork and betrayal over Zoom at 4pm! Download the free Among Us app, and play in a private match hosted by the WML. Grades 6-12. This is an online event via Zoom. An invite will be sent two hours prior to the start of the program to the email given at registration. Please be sure to check your clutter/junk/spam boxes if the invite does not appear in your inbox, and do not use a school email address (@wpsk12.com) to register. Register HERE.
#4) LIBRARY EVENT: Pints & Pages Book Group Meeting
A social book group geared towards readers in their 20’s and 30’s. The group meets on the first Thursday of every other month via Zoom. The book discussion will be hosted by librarians from the Wilmington and Reading Public Libraries. This months’ featured book is The Power by Naomi Alderman. Register HERE.
#5) Town Hiring Silver Lake Lifeguards For 2021 Town Beach Season
The Town of Wilmington seeks talented individuals to join the summer Recreation Department team for the following positions. Employment application forms can be found on the town website at www.wilmingtonma.gov.
Silver Lake Lifeguards – approximately 25 – 35 hours per week
The Lifeguards perform lifesaving and first aid duties and ensure safety and comfort of beach patrons at all times.
The Beach would be open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm from early July to mid-August. Lifeguards must be available weekdays and weekends.
Working under the direction and supervision of the Beach Supervisor, duties include, but are not limited to: lifeguard duty; facility maintenance; and enforcement of beach rules. May also include identification checks, gate attendance and collection of gate receipts.
Qualifications at time of application: Certified Lifeguard/Lifeguard Instructor with Waterfront Safety. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.
Hourly rate: $14.75
