WILMINGTON, MA — Below are 5 things to know in Wilmington on Friday, April 30, 2021:

#1) Library Event: OUTDOOR Tree Seedling Giveaway

In support of Arbor Day, the library is giving away 300 Pin Oak Tree seedlings, which are native to Massachusetts. Stop by the library Friday, April 30 from 9am-5pm to pick up your seedlings. Limit one per individual or two per family. The tree seedling giveaway helps Wilmington to be designated as a Tree City. This program is part of the Wilmington Earth Year Series funded by the Friends of the Library 2019 Annual Appeal.

#2) Wilmington Public Schools To Hold Virtual Caregiver Event On Effective Coping Strategies For Students On April 30

Yudelki Firpo-Perretti, PH.D, staff psychologist and Michelle Silverman, PH.D, postdoctoral fellow at McLean Anxiety Mastery Program and School Consultation Program, will discuss additional strategies parents can use to support their children in managing strong emotions and approaching tough challenges on Friday, April 30, 2021, from noon to 1pm.

There will also be time for a Q&A at the end.

Please note that Drs. Firpo-Perretti and Silverman can only address questions related to mental health and behavior management and will not be able to address any academic concerns or school logistics.

#3) REMINDER: Shawsheen Tech Culinary Arts Students Offer Meals For Curbside Pickup, Tuesday-Friday

Shawsheen Tech Culinary Arts Students are offering touch-less, curb-side pick up for lunches, available Tuesday through Friday at 11:30am.

Please call 978-671-3668 by 9:30am for the menu. The menu for the week will be available on Tuesday morning.

Also available are a complete line of frozen dinners, soups and stews. With enough notice, a full line of bakery products are available as well as cakes for any occasion.

Your order will be filled and waiting for you to pick it up in front of the Ram’s Head Guest Dining Room. You will not have to even have to get out of your car.

At this time, the program can only accept cash and checks made out to Shawsheen Tech Culinary Department.

#4) Wilmington Farmers Market Seeks Volunteers

 The Wilmington Farmers Market is excited to announce that they have begun planning for their 11th season, returning to the Swain Green, Sundays from 10am to 1pm, starting June 13 through October 3 as an in-person market.

Joining us are founding vendor Seafood Express, and long-time participants North of Boston Farm (formerly Arrowhead Farm) and Gaouette Farm. Also returning to the market will be Cupcake City, Red Antler Apothecary, and new addition Ugly Baby Soaps. Stay tuned as other vendors commit to their dates as we get closer to opening day.

We’re also expanding  our all-volunteer board, and are specifically looking for a social media manager, as well as a volunteer coordinator. If you are interested, please email  wilmingtonfarmersmarket1@gmail.com. And if you want to help keep the market going, but don’t have skills in these areas, email us anyway and let us know how you can help out.

Or do you want to help but you don’t feel that you can commit to more than a few hours?  We are also in need of adult and/or high school volunteers to assist with set up, break down, and the kids’ table.  This is a great way to fulfill community service hours. We’ll be asking that everyone participate in COVID safety measures while at the market, until we hear from our Board of Health that it is no longer necessary.

#5) DEADLINE IS TODAY: Wilmington Recreation Department Selling Commemorative Bricks & Memorial Benches For Yentile Farm

The Wilmington Recreation Department is taking orders if you would like to “purchase a brick” for the area in front of the concession stand, or dedicate one of the benches. This is a great way to honor a loved one, or simply to celebrate your pride in Wilmington.

The pricing is as follows:

  • Brick (Single Size): $125
  • Brick (Double Size): $300
  • Bench: $2,000 (only 2 left)

The Rec Department is accepting orders for a Spring 2021 installation through April 30, 2021.
