WILMINGTON, MA — Below are 5 things to know in Wilmington on Saturday, April 24, 2021:
#1) Vote In The Town Election
The 2021 Town Election takes place today from 8am to 8pm at your normal polling location.
Wilmington is voting on to fill 1 seat on the Board of Selectmen, 3 seats on the Wilmington School Committee, 1 seat on the Shawsheen Tech School Committee, Town Moderator, and 1 seat on the Housing Authority. Only the Wilmington School Committee races are contested.

#2) National Drug Take Back Day
On Saturday, April 24, 2021, the public may surrender expired, unwanted or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications for destruction. The anonymous drug take-back initiative will take place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Public Safety Building. In addition, there is a sharps waste disposal kiosk in the lobby of the Public Safety Building. All sharps must be in an approved sharps disposal container.
#3) Wilmington Yardwaste Center Is Open
The Wilmington Yardwaste Center is open from 9am to 4pm. Residents will need to purchase a punch-card for $15 in order to enter the yardwaste center. Punch-cards will be available for purchase through the Collector’s Office at Town Hall and will allow up to 5 vehicle trips to the yardwaste center per card. NO GRASS CLIPPINGS OR STUMPS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Commercial vehicles will not be allowed. Make sure to bring photo identification to show you are a Wilmington resident.
#4) Library Event: Outdoor Trash To Treasure!
Help keep Wilmington beautiful. During Earth Day week (April 18-April 24) spend an hour or so picking up trash around Wilmington—you pick the spot. (walk your neighborhood streets, clean up one of the parks or other town properties, etc. just be sure to keep safety in mind). Bring your bag of trash to the library parking lot on Saturday, April 24 between the hours of 10 am and 12 pm and turn your trash into treasure. Spin the prize wheel and redeem your bag of trash for an Earth friendly gift. Take photos during the clean-up to be added to the library’s Earth Year collection. Reflector vests, latex free gloves, and biodegradable bags will be available for pick up starting April 12. Only the biodegradable bags supplied by the library will be accepted.
#5) Library Event: Virtual Board Game Tournament
The WML’s own Board Game Club will host their first-ever virtual mixed game tournament over Zoom and Discord using Tabletopia! Play your favorite games from 11am to 3pm, including Jackbox, and get introduced to new ones for a chance to win prizes and get your team on the leaderboard. Register HERE.
