WILMINGTON, MA — Joan D. (Hayes) Zampitella, a resident of Windsor Place in Wilmington, a former longtime Waltham resident, died Monday, April 12, 2021 in Lahey Clinic in Burlington. She was 89.
Joan was born in Cambridge on May 6, 1931 a daughter of the late Albert and Dorothy (Gillen) Hayes. Joan lived most of her life in Waltham before moving to Windsor Place in Wilmington in 2016.
In her earlier years she had worked in the office at the former Little, Brown & Company.
Her love was for her family and time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a talented knitter and most of her life spent may vacations on Buzzards Bay on Cape Cod.
She leaves her children, Christine A. Zampitella Pisano of Waltham and Julie M. Zampitella Eaton (Stephen) of Wilmington; her grandchildren, Tracey Pisano (Mike Cali), Heather Segaloff (Jeff), Jeffrey Pisano, Dayna Martin (Matt), Mickayla McMillan and the late Scott ‘Scoots’ Pisano; great-grandmother of Jacob, Samuel, Ella, Maggie, Lillian, Charlotte, Joseph, Nicholas, Robert, Vivian and Aubrey; her siblings, James Hayes (Patricia) of Hampton, New Hampshire, Albert ‘Rusty’ Hayes (Wes Elliot) of Ogunquit, Maine, Richard Hayes (Nancy) of Stow, Genesta Catton of Tyngsboro, Margaret ‘Peggy’ Trumbour and Rose Browning, both of Maynard and the late Robert Hayes and Barbara Dudek; nieces & nephews. She was the wife of the late Michael A. Zampitella.
Funeral services will be private.
