WILMINGTON, MA — Below are 5 things to know in Wilmington on Wednesday, April 21, 2021:
#1) Wilmington Food Services Providing Free Meals To Children — Curbside Pick-Up In High School Parking Lot
Wilmington Public Schools Food Services will be distributing free meals (7 breakfasts & 7 lunches) for children 2-21 from 9:30am to 12:30pm in the High School Parking Lot.
#2) LIBRARY EVENT: Family Walk In Town Forest
Join Wilmington Conservation Agent Cameron Lynch for a walk along the trails of the 157-acre Town Forest, the largest piece of Conservation Land in Wilmington. There will be activities for all ages, including a nature scavenger hunt for the whole family. Please dress appropriately for the weather. Hiking boots are recommended. This event is weather dependent, so check our website for updates. Please park at Camp 40 Acres. The walk will begin from there at 10 am so please plan on arriving shortly before. Masks required. #3) LIBRARY EVENT: Virtual Draw Your Pet Class
In this 1pm Zoom class, using basic shapes and simple line technique, learn to create your favorite furry friends with instructor Corinne Roberts. No prior drawing experience is needed. Materials needed are: simple paper, pencil and eraser. For Grades 4-12. Register HERE.
#4) LIBRARY EVENT: Polar Bears In A Climate Change
Learn on how climate change affects one of our biggest, yet most vulnerable species from an educator at the Alaska Zoo in this Zoom webinar at 6:30pm. We will get to virtually visit the zoo’s polar bear. All ages. Register HERE.
#5) Wilmington Yardwaste Center Is Open
The Wilmington Yardwaste Center on Old Main Street is open from 8am to 2pm for the drop-off of leaves and brush.
Residents will need to purchase a punch-card for $15 in order to enter the yardwaste center. Punch-cards will be available for purchase through the Collector’s Office at Town Hall and will allow up to 5 vehicle trips to the yardwaste center per card. NO GRASS CLIPPINGS OR STUMPS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Commercial vehicles will not be allowed. Make sure to bring photo identification to show you are a Wilmington resident.
