Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:
WILMINGTON, MA — Charles William Vallas, “Charley”, age 68, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 16, 2021.
Charley was born on February 17, 1953 in Peabody, MA; he was the cherished son of Theodore “Ted” and Kay (Lefas) Vallas. Charley was raised and educated in Lynn.
Following graduation, Charley enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on September 23, 1970. He proudly served for almost four years before his honorable discharge on April 30, 1974.
Charley worked as a reliability engineer; he took enormous pride in being part of the IRobot team that field tested the military’s 310 SUGV bomb, which saved many lives overseas.
In his spare time, Charley enjoyed skiing at Killington, VT in the winter and striper fishing in the summer. He was an avid guitar enthusiast who was proud to have played live on stage in the past. He took even more pride in the smiles and laughs on the faces of those who were fortunate enough to have heard one of the many parody songs he had written.
Charley will be remembered for his unique sense of humor and his wittiness. He will be missed but never forgotten by those who knew him best.
Charley was the loving father of Chuck Vallas of Wilmington and Justin Vallas of Dover, dear brother of Basile Vallas of Santa Fe, NM and Mary Kiernan & her husband Al of Venice, FL.
Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Tuesday, April 20th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Memorial donations in Charley’s name may be made to Local Heroes, PO Box 536, Wilmington, MA 01887.
