WILMINGTON, MA — Below are 5 things to know in Wilmington on Saturday, April 10, 2021:
#1) Town Shredding Day In Town Common Parking Lot
The Wilmington Community Fund (WCF) is hosting a Shredding Day on Saturday, April 10, 2021, from 9am to noon. The event will take place at the Wilmington Town Common parking lot, 142 Middlesex Avenue. The event is free of charge to Wilmington residents.
Face coverings required – no exiting vehicles.
Paper will ONLY be accepted from trunks, and backs of SUVs or trucks.
All containers brought to be emptied must be taken back with you.
Please be sure to remove binder clips or metal fasteners. Paper clips, rubber bands and staples do NOT need to be removed.
The Wilmington Community Fund manages the Wilmington Food Pantry. It encourages participants to bring nonperishable food items or a donation to support the Pantry. Its motto is “People Helping People” and is grateful for the partnership of the community to help fight hunger.
#2) Library Event: Outdoor Saturday Storytime
This 10am fun family storytime includes books, rhymes, and music geared toward kids ages 2-5. The program will be held behind the library next to the Peggy Kane Reading Garden. Please bring a blanket or low chairs. Masks are required for all attendees ages 5 and up and strongly encouraged for children ages 2-5. If inclement weather is forecast, the storytime may be held virtually on Zoom. Please check out website on the day of the program to confirm location. Register HERE.
#3) Wilmington Yardwaste Center Is Open
The Wilmington Yardwaste Center is open from 9am to 4pm. Residents will need to purchase a punch-card for $15 in order to enter the yardwaste center. Punch-cards will be available for purchase through the Collector’s Office at Town Hall and will allow up to 5 vehicle trips to the yardwaste center per card. NO GRASS CLIPPINGS OR STUMPS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Commercial vehicles will not be allowed. Make sure to bring photo identification to show you are a Wilmington resident.
#4) Library Event: Practice ACT with The Princeton Review
The Wilmington Memorial Library is offering a virtual Practice ACT session at 9am. Join The Princeton Review virtually to take a free, full-length practice ACT. After the test, you’ll receive a comprehensive score report detailing your strengths and weaknesses. Grades 10 & 11. Register HERE. You will receive a link to our online classroom and further instructions upon registration. Be prepared with a calculator and scrap paper to work out your problems. You can also keep a bottle of water and a snack nearby, as breaks will be given just like on test day. #5) Town Asks Route 38 & Route 129 Business Owners To Take Online Surveys
ATTENTION BUSINESS OWNERS/MANAGERS of business establishments located on Rt 38 Main Street and Rt 129 Lowell Street. The Town of Wilmington, through the Wilmington Economic Development Committee, is participating in the Massachusetts Local Rapid Recovery Program to help communities develop projects and plans for targeted downtown districts.
An initial component of this program includes a 5-minute survey of owners or managers of businesses located in the Main Street Rt 38 and Lowell Street Rt 129 Business Corridors, including for-profits and non-profits, and even if your business is temporarily closed.
Your input will be extremely valuable in developing a plan to identify projects to help support local businesses and seek out additional funding for implementation.
This 5-minute survey will ask about your satisfaction with your business location, impacts of COVID on your business and your opinion regarding potential strategies to support your business and improve the commercial district.
