SELECTMEN To Discuss New Senior Center, Elementary Schools, Childhood Cancer Study, Memorial Day Parade & More On March 22

WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Board of Selectmen meets this Monday, March 22, 2021 at 7pm via Zoom.

The meeting will take place online and shown live on WCTV (Channel 9 on Comcast and Channel 37 on Verizon) at www.wctv.org. (Members can also listen in to the meeting by dialing 1-646-558-8656 and entering meeting ID 832 2224 1465 and then press # and press # again at the next voice prompt.)

There are some noteworthy items on the agenda, including:

  • Selectman Greg Bendel will provide an update on the selection of an architect for the Senior Center project.
  • Town Manager Jeff Hull will provide an update on the elementary school statements of interest to the Massachusetts School Building Authority.
  • Hull will also provide an update on the Wilmington Childhood Cancer Study.
  • Selectmen will consider executing an agreement between the town and the Wilmington Police Supervisors Association.
  • Selectmen will consider the request of the Town Clerk to appoint additional election workers for 2021.
  • Selectmen will consider the request of the Library Director to place signs on the Town Common celebrating the library’s 150th anniversary, and using the Swain Green on June 24 and July 13 for library events.
  • Selectmen will consider the request of the Director of Veterans’ Service to conduct a Memorial Day parade.
  • Selectmen will consider the renewal of taxi license and operator’s license for Wilmington Taxi.
  • Selectmen will consider the request of the Wilmington Sons of Italy to hold a Blood Drive in the Town Common Parking Lot on May 15.
  • Selectmen will consider calling a Special Town Meeting within the Annual Town Meeting to accommodate a resident looking for an age exemption to become a firefighter in town. Selectmen will also consider closing the warrant on Friday, March 26.
