TOWN ELECTION UPDATE: Ballot Set; All Races Uncontested Except School Committee; Maselli To Become Selectwoman; Eaton To Become Town Moderator

WILMINGTON, MA — April’s Town Election ballot is set after the Wilmington Town Clerk’s Office has finished certifying nomination papers following Friday’s filing deadline.

Barring any successful write-in campaigns, Lilian Maselli will be Wilmington’s newest Selectwoman; current Selectman Jonathan Eaton will be Wilmington’s next Town Moderator; former Selectman Charles Fiore will be Wilmington’s newest representative to the Shawsheen Tech School Committee; and Lori Penney will be the newest members of the Wilmington Housing Authority. Maselli, Eaton, Fiore and Penney are all running unopposed. Rob Fasulo, a potential challenger to Maselli, did not return his nomination papers.

Meanwhile, there are seven candidates vying for three Wilmington School seats across two races.

For the race involving the two “regular” 3-year seats, incumbents MJ Byrnes and David Ragsdale are seeking re-election. Their sole opponent is James Defeo after Michelle Giuliana did not return her nomination papers.

Four first-time candidates — Justin Cusce, Yvonne Helbert, Emily Irving, and Melissa Plowman — are vying for the one 2-year seat to fill the remainder of Steve Bjork’s unexpired term. Potential candidates Jodi Campbell and Vivian Varbedian did not return their nomination papers.

Assuming no candidates request their names be removed from the ballot, here are Wilmington’s choices for the April 21, 2021 Town Election.
