OBITUARY: Richard (Dick) Carter, 68

WILMINGTON, MA — Richard (Dick) Carter, age 68, of North Port FL, formerly of Nottingham, NH & Wilmington, MA passed away on February 12, 2021, with his loving wife by his side.

Richard was the loving husband of Patricia (Curran) Carter, with whom he enjoyed over 46 years of love, laughter, & happiness.

He was the proud father of Christopher Carter and Mary Jo Kimball, Richard Carter II and his wife Marie, Patrick Carter and Cathrine Cunningham.

Richard graduated Wilmington High school with the class of 1971. He was a union carpenter with Local 33 for over 20 years, before starting his own construction company with his son Christopher.

He was an avid fan of NHRA Drag racing, to which he passed on the love of the sport to his children. Richard loved The Beatles, lighthouses, corvettes, trains, World War II airplanes, the ocean, sunsets, rainbows, Oscar the Grouch and all things The Grinch.

Richard was the son of the late Luther & Edith (Carlon) Carter. He is survived by his siblings Kenneth, Gary, & Robert Carter, Donna Akerely, Diane Bellegarde. Richard was an uncle to many nieces, nephews, and a grandfather to grandchildren.

Richard will be greatly missed by his family and friends, especially his lifelong friend Robert Welch & Raymond Lepore.

Family and friends will gather for Visitation at Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington on Saturday, March 6th from 2:00-4:30 p.m. immediately followed by a Memorial Service at 4:30 p.m. Masks are required in the Funeral Home.
