Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:
WILMINGTON, MA — Theresa Carmella Lowney, maiden name Pungente, lived 83 years. During that time she went by many names. She was Ma, Mum, Mama Lion. Minnie, Grammy, GG. Terry. She spent 40 blessed years with her loving husband, Robert E. Lowney, and together they raised four children of their own along with close friends of their children and neighborhood kids that they often watched. Throughout her life, Terry’s family and tribe continued to grow with each new spouse, grandchild, and eventually great grandchild. She loved to travel and explore, having been to a number of destinations including Hawaii, St. Martin’s, Italy, Spain, Aruba, Bermuda and Las Vegas.
Terry was the cherished daughter of the late Domenic and Maria (Blandini) Pungente, and her younger sister Marie Gill remained close with her throughout her life. Long daily phone calls between the two lasted up until Terry’s last days. Marie’s family gave Terry nieces and nephews that she loved and was loved by dearly.
Minnie also lives on through her children and their spouses, Bob and Sherry Lowney, Terry Torres, Sean and Linda Lowney, and Steven Lowney. She is cherished by her grandchildren Kristen Lowney, the late Kelli Walker, Patrick and Hannah Lowney, Ryan Lowney, Megan Torres, Molly Torres, Sean Lowney, Seamus Lowney, Keira Lowney, and Talia Lowney. She was also fortunate enough to meet great grandchildren, including Domenic, Ava, and Angel, and in her last few months was able to look forward to the arrival of Eve Lowney, due in March. Also close to Terry was a family friend Erik Tremblay.
Minnie was often called a firecracker, all the way up to her last hours by a nurse who had just met her, as she never lost her sense of humor or the spark that all who knew her understood without explanation needed. She was a big fan of the slots, and she loved her Keno and scratchies. Memories not soon to be forgotten are the ones in which she made everyone laugh, whether at herself or themselves or some other fond memory that she kept alive.
Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Saturday, January 30th from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Theresa’s memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Theresa’s granddaughter, Keira Lowney, has inspired the family to participate annually in JDRF fundraisers for Type I Diabetes awareness and research, and for that reason it was a foundation close to Theresa’s heart. She will forever be a part of Keira’s Krew.
