WILMINGTON, MA — Below are 5 things to know in Wilmington on Sunday, November 29, 2020:

#1) Wilmington Boy Scouts Selling Christmas Trees 

Boy Scout Troop 56 of Wilmington is selling Christmas trees in the Colonial Plaza (35 Lowell Street) on the weekends from 10am to 8pm and on the weekdays from 4:30pm to 8:30pm.

#2) Wilmington Methodist Church Selling Christmas Trees

Wilmington United Methodist Church (87 Church Street) is selling Christmas trees this holiday season as follows: Thursdays & Fridays: 4pm to 8pm, Saturdays: 10am to 8pm, Sundays: 10am to 6pm. Proceeds will allow the church’s Outreach Committee to support many causes.

#3) Purchase Wilmington’s 2020 Holiday Ornament  

A Wilmington tradition continues! For the 22nd consecutive year, the Wilmington Community Fund is selling a commemorative holiday ornament.

The 2020 ornament — a snowflake — costs $10 and is available at Designs By Don (380 Main Street), Flaherty’s Jeweler inside Wilmington Plaza (240 Main Street) and at the Recreation Department Office at Town Hall (121 Glen Road).

All proceeds will benefit the Wilmington Community Fund. The Fund has three major goals: (1) provide direct relief to Wilmington families, individuals, the elderly and children; (2) provide basic needs — heat, light, utilities, emergency assistance and medical relief; and (3) provide food products on a bimonthly basis to those in need.

#4) Fuel Assistance Applications Now Available To Wilmington Seniors

Beginning today, the Community Teamwork Inc.’s Fuel Assistance Program is available to new applicants. Any Wilmington resident 60 years or older who is in need of fuel assistance should contact the Elderly Services Department at 978-657-7595. Wilmington residents who applied last year and are receiving renewal applications in the mail may also call for an appointment. The income guidelines (maximum annual gross income) for the program are as follows: $39,105 for a household of one; $51,137 for a household of 2; $63,169 for a household of 3; and $75,201 for a household of four. Residents under the age of 60 in need of assistance should contact the Billerica Veterans’ Agent office at 978-671-0968.
