Lowell Catholic Honors Wilmington Fallen Hero PFC John F. Landry Jr. At Veterans Day Prayer Service

Below is an announcement from Lowell Catholic:

LOWELL, MA — Lowell Catholic solemnly remembered veterans and service personnel with a tribute video that was viewed by grades 3-12 in honor of Veterans Day.

LC senior Caitie Heise prayed for the safety of all who are serving, after which senior Owen Fanning, recipient of Lowell Catholic’s PFC John Landry, Jr., Memorial Scholarship, recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Landry, a 2005 LC graduate, died in battle on March 17, 2007, while serving in Iraq.

Lou Cimaglia, founder and president of Wilmington-based Local Heroes, spoke of how the character of a soldier is built on the same charisms that students at Lowell Catholic strive to live by — humility, simplicity, compassion, trust and zeal.

Bob Donaghue, a 1968 graduate of Keith Academy (a Lowell Catholic legacy school) and a Marine veteran who served his country for 32 years, also spoke to students, who were reminded that every single person who serves sacrifices something.

LC junior Tommy King gave the closing prayer.
