WILMINGTON, MA — Below are 5 things to know in Wilmington on Saturday, November 21, 2020:
#1) WHS Marching Band Food Drive At Market Basket & Lucci’s
The Wilmington High School Marching Band is holding its Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive on Saturday, November 21, 2020, from 9am to 3pm.
Students will be collecting non-perishable food donations from shoppers at Market Basket (260 Main Street) and Lucci’s Supermarket (211 Lowell Street). Look for them outside the stores’ entrances and exits.
All collected food will be donated to the Wilmington Food Pantry.
Items the pantry is often in need of include:
- Canned protein-rich items like Tuna, Beef Stew, Chili or Sloppy Joes
- Canned Fruit
- Juice Boxes
- Brownie mix
- Cake mix
- Sugared cereal
- Canned Pasta (Spaghettio’s, Chef Boyardi)
#2) Library Event: Poetry Circle At Wilmington Library
The Wilmington Memorial Library’s Monthly Poetry Circle meets at 9:30am. Do you enjoy writing poetry? Want input on your work? If so, this group is for you. Led by local writing enthusiast, Barbara Alevras. If you are interested in attending this event, please email Assistant Director Charlotte Wood at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include the title of the program in the subject heading. This event will be held over Zoom. You will receive an invite from the presenter prior to the program date.
#3) Town Yardwaste Center Is Open
The Town’s Yardwaste Center, located on Old Main Street, off of Main Street at the Woburn line, will be open today from 9am to 4pm. Wilmington residents only may use the center to drop off leaves and brush. In order to use the facility, residents must purchase a $15 punch card at the Treasurer/Collector’s Office at Town Hall. The card has no expiration date and is good for 5 visits to the facility. Residents will be asked to show the punch card an an ID at the entrance to the facility. No grass clippings may be disposed at the recycling center due to the odors they create. Stumps will not be accepted. No contractors or commercial vehicles are allowed. #5) WHS Boosters Raffling Off Fully Stocked Wine Fridge & Beer Fridge
The Wilmington High School Boosters Association is raffling off a chance to win a fully stocked wine fridge and a fully stocked beer fridge.
Tickets for each fridge raffle costs $20. Pay via cash, check (payable to WHS Boosters), or Venmo (@wilmingtonboosters). Please include your phone number.
Both drawings will take place on December 14, 2020. Winner must be 21 or over.
