WILMINGTON, MA — Below are 5 things to know in Wilmington on Saturday, November 7, 2020:
#1) Book Store Next Door Indoor & Outdoor Sale
The Book Store Next Door will be open from Saturday, November 7, 2020, from 10am to 2pm, weather permitting. Fiction and non-fiction books will be sold indoors. All other items will be sold on the front lawn. Please enter the store from the back door for both shopping and dropping off book donations. Hardcover books are $2, softcover books are $1, DVDs are $2, and book on CD are $4. All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library. Please practice social distancing. All customer are required to wear a mask (unless they are under 2 years old). With Thanksgiving right around the corner, Book Store volunteers are also collecting non-perishable food for the Wilmington Food Pantry. The Pantry is in need of brownie mix, muffin mix, mustard, relish, and hot chocolate, but all donations are appreciated.
#2) Wilmington Cub Scout Pack 136 & Boy Scout Troop 136 To Hold Bottle & Can Drive
Wilmington’s Cub Scout Pack 136 and Boy Scout Troop 136 are currently collecting returnable cans and bottles to help support their Scouting programs. A Bottle & Can Drive will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2020, from 10am to 2pm, at West Real Estate (386 Main Street). Want your bottles and cans picked up from your home? Contact Frank West at 978-658-1754 or email@example.com to schedule a local pick-up. Cub Scout Pack 136 and Boy Scout Troop 136 are chartered by Wilmington’s American Legion Post 136.
#3) Town Yardwaste Center Is Open
The Town’s Yardwaste Center, located on Old Main Street, off of Main Street at the Woburn line, will be open today from 9am to 4pm. Wilmington residents only may use the center to drop off leaves and brush. In order to use the facility, residents must purchase a $15 punch card at the Treasurer/Collector’s Office at Town Hall. The card has no expiration date and is good for 5 visits to the facility. Residents will be asked to show the punch card an an ID at the entrance to the facility. No grass clippings may be disposed at the recycling center due to the odors they create. Stumps will not be accepted. No contractors or commercial vehicles are allowed. #4) Library Event: Fiction Critique Group
The Wilmington Memorial Library is holding a virtual meeting of its Fiction Critique Group from 9:15am to 11:45am. Love writing fiction? Whether you are drafting a short story or a novel, joining our Critique Group is a great opportunity to meet other writers and get constructive feedback in a supportive environment. Open to all experience levels writing in all genres. Led by local writing enthusiast, Barbara Alevras. This event will be held over Zoom. You will receive an invite from the presenter prior to the program date.
#5) Library Event: Dungeons & Dragons For Teens
The Wilmington Memorial Library is holding a D&D campaign for Grades 6-8 from 10am to noon. Interested in finding out more about this fantasy tabletop role-playing game, or looking for a group to play with? Join DM Michaela for a virtual campaign via Zoom (or Google Hangouts) every month!
