Below is a scam alert from Reading Municipal Light Department:
READING, MA — The RMLD has received reports of a scammer contacting RMLD customers stating that their electricity will be shut off immediately if the customer does not submit a payment. The scammer has gone so far as to provide a work order number for the shut off, and has an automated phone recording impersonating the RMLD if the customer calls back. THIS IS NOT THE RMLD, and the RMLD will never demand immediate payment in this manner. If you receive this type of call, please contact the RMLD at 781-942-6598. DO NOT submit a payment or share your personal information.
