WILMINGTON, MA — COVID-19 can’t stop the Wilmington High School Marching Band.
“The best band in the land” held its first ever outdoor concert on Saturday, October 24, 2020. Band members were masked and socially distanced on the hill between the Student Parking Lot and Senior Center.
Dressed in costumes for the Halloween season, the band performed for approximately 30 minutes, playing favorites like “Build Me Up Buttercup” and “Don’t Stop Me Now.”
Parents and family members watched the concert from inside their vehicles, applauding and honking horns after each song.
Following the performance, instructor Michael Ferrara announced the band’s leaders for the school year. Ferrara noted that after just three small rehearsals, he felt the concert served as a fun way start to the school year and acted as a successful refresher for his students.
