OBITUARY: Eleanor Rose Tomeo, 99

Below is an obituary from the Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — Eleanor Rose Tomeo, age 99, passed away on October 23, 2020, at Windsor Place of Wilmington.

Eleanor was born on August 19, 1921, in Medford, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late Alfred R. Tomeo and Angela (Cuneo) Tomeo. Eleanor was raised in Revere and graduated from Revere High School in 1939. Following graduation, Eleanor attended the Copley School of Fashion in Boston, graduating with Honors in 1941.

Eleanor went on to work for the Revere Public School System where she was instrumental in initiating “Home Economics” courses in the Revere Middle Schools where she retired as a teaching supervisor in 1982.

Eleanor was a very caring and compassionate person; her family was everything to her. Eleanor along with her sister Evelyn, tenderly took care of their parents until their passing.

Eleanor was a superior seamstress, as she made gorgeous wedding gowns, christening outfits, prom dresses, dresses and beautiful outfits for many family members. She made countless Christmas stocking all specially planned out and meticulously detailed for her family and extended family; all gifts that will be treasured for years to come.

Eleanor’s passion was to team up with her best friend and sister Evelyn, to create wonderful holiday and birthday meals, beautiful decorations and countless memories for their ever expanding family. Eleanor was a beautiful lady inside and out; she loved doing for others and she will forever be in the hearts of those she touched.

Eleanor was the dear sister of the late Louise M. (Tomeo) Gage and Evelyn C. Tomeo both of Wilmington, the late Vito A. Tomeo of California. Loving Aunt of Robert V. Gage and Jeanne L. (Gage) Kane both of Wilmington, Thomas A. Tomeo, Diane (Tomeo) Scroggins and Stephen A. Tomeo all of California, the late Richard E. Gage and William A. Gage. Eleanor is also survived by her special cousin Marie DiLorenzo of Medford as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for Eleanor on Wednesday, October 28th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, followed by a burial in the family lot at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Roslindale.

Memorial donations in Eleanor’s memory may be bade to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
