STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Wilmington’s Gracie Augustine Wins MWRA’s Annual Writing Contest

WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Middle School recently announced that three of its students were recognized in the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority’s Annual Poster & Writing Contest.

Gracie Augustine (Grade 7) received First Place Winner in the Grades 6-8 category in the writing category. Augustine created parodies to the songs “God’s Plan” by Drake and “Row, Row, Row Your Boat.” The songs explain what happens when the wrong things get flushed down the toilet. Augustine received a $100 gift card.

Taya Jones (Grade 7) and Dean Ciampa (Grade 7) earned Honorable Mention for their submissions in the writing category.

Last school year, students in the MWRA service area — more than 60 communities — were invited to use their creative skills to design a poster and write an essay, poem or story explaining what should or should not be flushed down toilets or put down drains.
