WILMINGTON, MA — Below are 5 things to know in Wilmington on Sunday, September 27, 2020:

#1) ETHEL TURNS 103: Residents Invited To Participate In Birthday Car Parade For Wilmington’s Oldest Resident

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington’s oldest resident — Anne “Ethel” Butters — will be turning 103 years old on Tuesday, September 29, 2020.

We’re One Wilmington (WOW) is organizing a car parade to celebrate Butters this Sunday, September 27, 2020. Vehicles are asked to meet in the Fourth of July Building parking lot (142 Middlesex Avenue) at 4pm. Butters lives close by.

WOW is also collecting birthday cards for Butters. Cards can be dropped in the donation bin at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Albany Street in Wilmington.

#2) Rolling Trump Rally To Be Held Around Wilmington

The Wilmington Republican Town Committee is holding a rolling Trump Rally on Sunday, September 27, 2020, beginning at 1pm in the Fourth of July Building Parking Lot. Participating vehicles are asked to arrive by 12:30pm.

If you’d like to participate, contact the Republican Town Committee in advance as they’re hoping to have an estimate of the number of vehicles in the rally. RSVP to their Facebook event HERE.

#3) Wilmington Eagle Scout Candidate Holding Mask Fundraiser

Eagle Scout candidate Nick Toth is holding a fundraiser to raise funds for his project this Sunday, September 27, 2020.

Toth will be handing out masks at the Wilmington Methodist Church (87 Church Street) from 6pm to 7pm. No donation required, but greatly appreciated. These homemade fabric face masks come in three sizes — standard adult and two kid sizes.

For this Eagle Scout project, Toth is sprucing up the front courtyard at the church, including new stone for drainage; new mulch; new plants, shrubs & trees; sanding & painting the railings; and installing a flag pole and flag. Toth’s troop meets at the church and this is his way of saying “thanks.”

#4) Wilmington High Field Hockey Teams To Hold Car Wash

The Wilmington Field Hockey teams are holding a car wash fundraiser this Sunday, September 27, 2020, from 9am to 1pm, at the 4th of July Building (142 Middlesex Avenue). Donations will be accepted. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Wilmington Food Pantry.

#5) Drive-Thru Wilmington Farmers Market

The Wilmington Farmers Market will be open this Sunday, September 27, 2020, from 10am to 11am, in the Swain Green Parking Lot (140 Middlesex Avenue).

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in an effort to continue to bring fresh and locally sourced food to our community, the Wilmington Farmers Market is operating as a weekly Drive-Thru Market where customers can pick up their pre-ordered food from the select list of essential vendors below. All sales are made directly through the vendors, and payments must be made in advance (exceptions can be made direct with the vendors on a case-by-case basis).

Instructions

1. Place your order(s) directly with each vendor following their instructions below.
2. Pre-pay for your order with each vendor. Payments can only be accepted on-site if pre-arranged with the vendor (ex: for SNAP payments)
3. Arrive at the pick-up lot (140 Middlesex Ave) between 10 and 11:30 am on Sunday and stay in your vehicle! Bring a sign with your last name written on it and pop your trunk when you pull up to the Market Manager’s tent.
4. Vendors are positioned in the drive-thru line alphabetically and will place orders inside your vehicle.

Safety Guidelines

For your own safety, and the safety of our wonderful vendors, please consider the following guidelines when you come to the market: Stay inside your vehicle; Pop your trunk; Wear a face mask; and Sanitize your packages when you arrive home.
