VIDEO: Flag Raising Ceremony To Commemorate India’s Independence Day Held At Wilmington Town Hall

WILMINGTON, MA — The India Association of Greater Boston held a Flag Raising Ceremony to commemorate India’s Independence Day at Wilmington Town Hall on Friday, August 14, 2020.  

Organizer Jeyanthi Ghatraju, Town Manager Jeff Hull, and Wilmington Veterans Services Director Lou Cimaglia offered brief remarks. Hull presented Ghatraju with a proclamation from the Town of Wilmington. Both country’s national anthems were played as their flags were flown on separate flagpoles.

The India Association of Greater Boston typically holds a large celebration on India’s Independence Day in Boston which attracts 14,000 individuals. This year, due to COVID-19, the association held smaller gatherings in 34 cities and towns across the state, including Wilmington.
