WILMINGTON, MA — Below are 3 things to know in Wilmington on Monday, July 20, 2020:
#1) Wilmington 9th Grader To Hold Clothing Drive To Benefit Cradles To Crayons, July 20-31
Wilmington 9th grader Sofia Pitzen has organized a Clothing Drive to benefit Cradles To Crayons.
Residents are encouraged to drop off clothing items inside bags in the marked box outside the garage at 425 Middlesex Avenue. The drive takes place daily from 10am to 3pm, from July 20, 2020 to July 31, 2020.

Cradles to Crayons provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive – at home, at school and at play.
Pitzen currently serves as Wilmington’s ambassador to the state’s Project 351 initiative. Pitzen engages in service learning, community building, and leadership training after being selected by Wilmington Middle School officials for her kindness, compassion, humility and gratitude.
#2) Wilmington Library To Hold Stop Motion Animation For Beginners
The Wilmington Memorial Library is holding a Stop Motion Animation For Beginners class at 11am via Zoom. Learn how to create stories with stop motion animation video techniques. Students may use LEGOs, action figures, or any materials they may have at home. Students also need to have either an iPad, iPhone, Android phone or tablet. A limited number of tablets are available for checkout from the library for this program. The class will be led by instructor from Outschool. More detailed instructions will be sent after registration. Grades 3-6. Register HERE.
#3) Paving Projects Set To Begin On Arlene Ave., Anthony Ave., Barbara Ave., Catherine Ave. & Dorothy Ave.
Below is an announcement from the Wilmington Department of Public Works:
WILMINGTON, MA — Please be advised that the Wilmington Department of Public Works will begin removing old curbing and sidewalks, grinding, and resurfacing the roadways listed below, tentatively starting July 20, 2020:
- Arlene Avenue (from Salem Street to Dorothy Avenue)
- Anthony Avenue
- Barbara Avenue
- Catherine Avenue
- Dorothy Avenue
Once the date is locked in, an automated call will be placed to the neighborhood to alert residents.
During operations, no street parking will be allowed.
Partial lane closures and full road closures are anticipated. Local residents will have access to their properties, although there may be short delays.
Please obey the directives of police details, detour signs, and warning signs during all construction operations, and again, please do not park on the street.
